How Live Presence Works

WeRoll only shares a vendor's location while they actively choose to Go Live. When a session ends or becomes inactive, visibility automatically expires.

The principle

Real-time discovery, not real-time tracking.

Vendors choose when to broadcast. Followers choose when to follow. Visibility is temporary by design — not a side effect of having an account.

The flow, step by step

  1. 1

    Vendor taps Go Live

The vendor opens WeRoll and explicitly taps Go Live. Until that moment, no location is collected, transmitted, or shared.

  2. 2

    Location becomes visible nearby

The vendor's position appears on the WeRoll map within a small radius. Nearby followers may be notified that a vendor they follow is live.

  3. 3

    Movement updates in real time

As the vendor moves, the map updates. Followers see where to go. This is the discovery feature, not a tracking feature.

  4. 4

    Session ends automatically

After 4 hours, or after 15 minutes of GPS inactivity, the session ends. Visibility expires. The vendor disappears from the map.

  5. 5

    No background collection

Once the session ends, WeRoll stops collecting location. We do not track the vendor's path home, off-hours movement, or personal travel.

What WeRoll does — and doesn't

We do

  • ✓ Show live vendors to nearby users
  • ✓ Send push notifications when a followed vendor goes live near you
  • ✓ Expire visibility when the session ends
  • ✓ Let vendors stop broadcasting at any time
  • ✓ Use approximate proximity for follower matching

We don't

  • ✗ Track vendors when they're not live
  • ✗ Monitor in the background
  • ✗ Store precise residential history
  • ✗ Sell personal location data
  • ✗ Build movement profiles of individuals
